Are you guys familiar with geocaching? Its sort of like hunting for easter eggs, only GPS coordinates are used to direct people to little stashes that are hidden all over the place.
I've actually stumbled across two of them purely by chance, which is how I initially found about them. The first time it was a plastic kool-aid container that was hidden under a piece of bark along a trail. There are little trinkets inside, if you take one your supposed to put something else in to replace.
The second one I found was while I was in Minnesota, oddly enough. We were just driving around the country and happened across an old historical. It was a two story pioneer house that had been burnt down by the Sioux. All that was left were the stones parts of the house like the foundation. Behind this house on a little pile of rubble was a metal ammo box, turned out to be another geocache.
I guess a lot of people are using these at historical sites and markers now. They place them in on locations where significant events happened, such as on a battlefields and such.
Pretty neat way to get people involved.
