Disaster Plans

We've seen that there are more institutions than not that do not have a disaster recovery plan.  Personally, I think it is rather foolish and stupid not to have some sort of plan in place.  It doesn't seem to be expensive at  all to make one and to update it every so often.  I believe in the idea that you should try to prepare for every scenario so when something does happen you're not panicking over it and wondering "why didn't we think of that?"

This article may be a year old but it's nice to see two more places that have good disaster plans in place.  Connecticut's Mystic River Historical Society and the Ebenezer Avery House had their buildings evaluated and new plans were formed.  These plans were put into action when Tropical Storm Irene hit Connecticut in 2011.  Both institutions performed well and protected their collections.  With how often the weather becomes a problem in that area, it is nice for them to have a plan and that they do what they need to do.

They said you could leave tips for the historical society in the comment section.
